I have always been artistic and creative, sketching and painting whenever I could find the opportunity, but it wasn’t until my children became independent and semi-retirement a reality that I was able to truly reignite my passion for art. In 2012 I returned to the easel in earnest, and I am thoroughly enjoying the journey!
I am very lucky to live on Brisbane’s bayside, with Moreton Bay and its islands literally right on my doorstep. I love the Bay’s ever changing moods, its breathtakingly pristine, turquoise waters and startling white beaches; it is such a privilege to live here. This beauty inspires me to paint; to capture the light and colour and strive to put it on canvas. My paintings are reminiscent of places, events and people in my life, and I feel very ‘connected’ to my artwork – perhaps this is why I find painting such a therapeutic, almost meditative, activity. Working primarily in acrylics, I enjoy painting a variety of subjects, but especially my beloved beach and seascapes. I also love to experiment, loosening up with different techniques and mediums, playing with impasto, gels and colourful inks to create my signature funky, textured seahorses, which are popular additions to my clients’ living spaces. Recently I discovered the unique versatility of pastels and am enjoying painting portraits with this beautiful, rich medium.
